Product Review: Very ridgid & lightweight
Having the hollow spindle & the right-hand crank/four-bolt spider as a single piece makes sound engineering sense. Shimano's anodising isn't up to much so expect the cranks & spider to show signs of scuffing after a few months.
Once fitted, the outer & middle rings can still be replaced but the inner ring will need to be unbolted with the crank removed from the frame. I always replace the rings with Middleburn ones - they shift nearly as well but last far longer.
